Pre-K in Riverhead, NY That Builds Kindergarten Readiness

Our Pre-K program helps children prepare for kindergarten through early academics, play, problem-solving, friendships, and daily independence. Children are encouraged to ask questions, try new skills, and take pride in what they can do.

Skills for the Next Step

Our Pre-K curriculum builds on the skills children develop in Preschool and is aligned with New York State learning standards. Teacher-guided instruction, hands-on experiences, and play help children understand new ideas while staying engaged in the learning process.

Building Reading and Writing Readiness

Pine Tree uses the Frontline Phonics reading and writing readiness program to introduce core literacy skills through a structured approach.

Children practice listening to sounds, connecting sounds with letters, and developing the confidence to take their next steps as readers and writers.

Ready for More Than Academics

Kindergarten readiness also includes knowing how to participate in a group, communicate, build friendships, follow routines, and care for personal belongings.

Our teachers observe each child’s strengths, interests, and areas for growth. They adjust support so children can keep developing at a pace that fits their needs.

Community Experiences Throughout the Year

Weekly art, Spanish, music, yoga, and dance give children more ways to create and learn. Community-based and on-site experiences may include aquarium visits, Touch-a-Truck events, petting zoos, and other activities throughout the year.

Age-Appropriate Technology

Our Pre-K technology center includes computers and tablets with educational games and activities that introduce basic technology skills.
